A Fixed Heart

Based on Psalms 57-59, Romans 4

"My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early." Psalm 57:7‭-‬8

How firmly fixed are our hearts upon The Lord? Is distraction easy? Is depression easy? Do we let those things seep into our souls on a far-too-regular basis? Our hearts are deceitful above all things (Jeremiah 17:9), so we need to be sure we place them in God's Hands in daily prayer! Our heart has a weak immune system to this world's negative reports...if our hearts aren't fixed on God, where will they end up?

"Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? Do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?" Psalm 58:1

We should question & examine ourselves like David questioned above: Do we speak righteousness? Do we judge uprightly? The only way to do that is to study His Word & pray in order to fix our hearts on Jesus!

"But I will sing of thy power; Yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: For thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: For God is my defence, and the God of my mercy." Psalm 59:16‭-‬17

We can sing and celebrate when we declare the goodness of God! We can celebrate and rejoice when we are not wavering & our hearts are fixed firmly upon Him! With a made-up heart & a made-up mind, we don't have to "make-up" or pretend we are ok...because we will have the joy of The Lord!

"he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform." Romans 4:20‭-‬21

Abraham was fully persuaded. Fully fixed. And we are evidence of God's promises continuing to unfold from Abraham and completed through Jesus Christ! If we are evidence that the Bible is true, how much more evidence do we need before we fix our hearts?
