A Forever Fire

Based on Leviticus 6-7, Matthew 25:1-30

We can't really make up for lost time...it's a phrase which means we can do something in the present to cancel out something in the past...and while we can improve upon our past, we can't go back and change it. It's the same in any relationship, especially our relationship with God. We can't let that fire of passionate love for Him go out! Yes, we can rekindle it, but once that original fire is gone, it's gone...the sad thing is, some people see no use in rekindling the relationship...but we have to be faithful in a forever fire that does not go out!

"And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out." Leviticus 6:12‭-‬13.

There was a set time each morning where the priest burned offerings unto God, and the fire for those offerings never went out! Just as this was true for the tabernacle days, we can't lose the fire behind our sacrifice for The Lord! We can't lose the fire in our relationship with God! No fire meant no sacrifice. No sweet savor unto The Lord. The process & connection stopped. We can't do the same!

"And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut." Matthew 25:6‭-‬10.

A relationship with God is to be kept our whole lives. It's not supposed to be rushed at the end when we see Jesus coming again...that just shows we are in it for Heaven, and not our Heavenly Father. Later in this chapter Jesus says, "I never knew you." We can only get to know others, and our Jesus, over time. We can't put Him off now and claim to know Him later. The fire must burn now so later we will not burn & yearn for Jesus when the door is shut! It's quite sobering to think about. Keep the forever fire going in Jesus' Name! It's not too late!
