A HUGE Task

"And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee." Genesis 6:17‭-‬18.

You may notice that I'm still diving into the book of Genesis-well this year I have a challenge for myself! Each year our church challenge is to read the Bible through fully. Many churches do this with the use of a BREAD chart (Bible Reading Enriches Any Day) based upon the Scripture, "Give us this day our daily bread." Matthew 6:11. I've tried to finish, and have done it once, but this year I'd like to practice consistency through accountability! I'm taking you with me on each day's reading, and pulling something special from each one. My focus today is Genesis 6:17-18 above!

Most of us are familiar with Noah and his HUGE task to build the ark. It was a big job, but he had big motivation-why? His family's life depended on it! On the other side of the flood, there was a covenant. A promise. And his obedience bridged the gap! He couldn't let that bridge to God be destroyed by the ridicule of others. He had to work until the task was complete!

Just think-a few chapters after creation, and this happened: "And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord."

Genesis 6:7‭-‬8.

Being in God's favor is very important! As we talked about yesterday, God is the One who created life itself. He also has power to take away life. This shouldn't scare us. This should motivate us to just take life more seriously! Your life is precious and serious to God. In Noah's day, many people did not live for tomorrow, they partied their lives away for today. In doing that, they did not get many tomorrows. They just had sorrow! It's been said that we too are in similar days. Like Noah's day, there are many people out there who could care less about God & His ways. It's time to spread the Word! Start here:

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Acts 2:38.

Acts 2:38 is our "ark" Scripture. Once on board, we take every Scripture into consideration as we walk a full life with God, full of tomorrows. It may seem like a HUGE task to kick off the year with, but God's plan of salvation is the biggest act of grace for our imperfections. If our lives are a big deal, salvation should be too! I pray that God help us please Him in 2020, and not just worry about pleasing ourselves. All of that will come when we live for God!
