A Little Sanctuary

Based on Ezekiel 11-13, James 1

"Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city: which say, It is not near: let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh." Ezekiel 11:2‭-‬3

"Everything is fine." This can be one of the greatest cover-ups used. Is everything REALLY fine? Individually, locally or globally? I'm not trying to question ALL aspects of life, but when we really examine things, there's LOTS of room for improvement! Just like the men above said, "It is not near." Talking about the fact that impending judgment & wrath was not coming, and they could keep on building up & making their city something spectacularly comfortable...at least, for the time being..."The world is our oyster!" I'm sure they thought..."The sky's the limit!" A real "tower-of-Babel" mentality repeat...but what's better than a big city is a little sanctuary! Or, a little sanctuary IN a big city...however small, it can make a BIG difference!

"This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I will judge you in the border of Israel:" Ezekiel 11:11

He'll judge in the border...we won't get very far! Without God, we are doing many things, but we are absent of purpose! We are not living up to our TRUE potential when we decide to build our own kingdom instead of God's! The best thing we can build is a little sanctuary in our homes, and attend the church sanctuary with the family of God! When we build upon self-interest, we are building in the dark...but when we build upon God's direction in His Word, we shine a LOT of light into a lost community!

"Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come." Ezekiel 11:16

After the promise of a little sanctuary for the remnant, God promises in this chapter that He will also bring them back to their homeland! If we stay in our little sanctuaries & purpose ourselves to have that place of peace here in His presence on earth, then we will also get to go back to our TRUE homeland of HEAVEN with HIM! The NEW JERUSALEM!

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."

James 1:17

He is the Father of lights! He shines brighter than any city skyline, and His light is one that always leads us in the right direction! A little sanctuary goes a LONG way!
