A Merciful Plan
Based on Psalms 135-136, 1 Corinthians 12
"To him which led his people through the wilderness: For his mercy endureth for ever." Psalm 136:16
Through the many Scriptures weaved throughout the Bible, especially in Psalms, we see the verse, "for His mercy endureth forever." God's intricate plan is sewn together tightly by His mercy. It's because of His mercy that He brings us through our wildernesses. It's because of His mercy that He brings us out of the miry clay! His mercy stems from a deep love for us which allows for longsuffering—no matter what we've been through, we can always return!
"Who remembered us in our low estate: For his mercy endureth for ever:" Psalm 136:23
Wouldn't it have been easier for God to forget? To say, "Oh, here they go again! Back to rock bottom!" But He doesn't! He uses rock bottom, our low estate, to bring us back to The Rock, Himself! Of course there are many places where God has wrath. Where He is frustrated with His people's choices. But His whole plan of mercy endures & prevails, even through those challenging times!
"O give thanks unto the God of heaven: For his mercy endureth for ever." Psalm 136:26
We need to give thanks for this mercy! We need to remember our God and His high estate as He remembers us in our low estate! We always have a Rock to cling to at rock bottom...because we have a merciful God!
"And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues." 1 Corinthians 12:28
"But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way."
1 Corinthians 12:31
When we receive God's full plan of salvation, repenting, getting baptized in Jesus' Name & receiving the Holy Ghost, we partake of the most important part of God's merciful plan! The Holy Ghost is the gift that keeps on giving! His Spirit helps us go from a low estate to growing as a member of the church! Jesus is the more excellent way, and His merciful plan will bring us all the way to Heaven!
