A Miracle is on The Way

Based on Matthew 9-10 & Psalm 18

"In my distress I called upon the Lord , and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears." Psalms 18:6.

Jesus kept moving to different places, to different people throughout His life. Wherever He was, miracles were about to happen. A miracle was always on the way...because Jesus HIMSELF was and is THE WAY! "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6. In following Jesus ourselves, a miracle is on the way for us too!

The ones who believed & had faith in who He was, that He was the only way, they were the ones with a miracle on the way! There were also some people with pride, which stopped themselves from being able to receive miracles for what they truly were. One documented healing was a man sick with the palsy (Matthew 9). His friends carried him on a bed to Jesus! No matter how difficult it may be to make our way to Jesus, He, being the way, will make a way for us to get to Him-even if it may be a humbling experience.

When the men approached Jesus with the bed, He said, "...Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee." Matthew 9:2. But wait, isn't this about the healing? Isn't that the reason this man traveled the difficult path of getting to Jesus? Yes, it was the reason, but not the most important one! Remember, Jesus is a Housecleaner AND a Healer! It's about cleaning out our inner disease of sin first, then our physical will follow!

Well, the scribes who witnessed "the Way making a way" wrongly depicted this as an act of pride, and they responded in their own pride: "And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?" Matthew 9:3‭-‬5.

What a shame it must have been to be in the presence of God, see a miracle, and not be willing to believe it! I pray our pride and reliance on the world around us will not sway us from the Way to our miracle, in Jesus' Name!

Miracles happened on the path Jesus paved as the Way, Truth & Life. Even as He took steps toward a miracle, another miracle happened on the way to that miracle!

"While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples."
Matthew 9:18‭-‬19.

Jairus' daughter was perceived as dead, and on the way to heal her, another miracle happened:

"And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour."
Matthew 9:20‭-‬22.

This woman made her way to the Way: Jesus. Again, she wasn't worried about judgment. She wasn't prideful. She was on the ground reaching for Jesus' garment! She did not believe the garment had power. She believed Jesus had power, and that it would not take much for her to be made whole! After this small section, the passage returns to the focus of Jairus. But there is one important comparison to make: the "woman on the way" was not only in the right place for a miracle physically, she was in the right place in her heart: "...thy faith hath made thee whole." With Jairus' daughter, they were "on the Way" physically to the house, but in their hearts, they doubted...they had some housecleaning to do!

"He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose." Matthew 9:24‭-‬25.

They laughed Jesus to scorn, yet Jesus still came through.Sometimes, Jesus does miracles even if we don't believe to show us who He is! Are we willing to change our perspective and recognize when God does something miraculous?

"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 10:32‭-‬33.

Let us not deny the power of Jesus...to not only heal our physical bodies, but our spiritual bodies. To make us whole, holy & righteous! Jesus is the Way. The Way to your miracle. The Way to forgiveness. The Way we must walk to heaven.
