A New Normal

Gina Pietrzak

Based on Deuteronomy 25-27

We all know & anticipate the day where life will go on & function as it had before. But until then, we have to do what works. We have to develop a "new normal" and adapt to the season we are in right now. The Good News is that God can be our normal, our comfort, our "go-to" no matter what season of life we are in! So while we must develop new structures & routines which work for us, let's remember that God can be our constant through it all!

"But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee."
Deuteronomy 25:15.

We need to have balance. As hard as it is to get used to this, we need to develop a system which doesn't leave us spiraling out of control! Yes, we'll have our stressful days, but as The Word says, we need to have a "perfect & just weight." Only God can provide that! It's quite a challenge to break up the day when there aren't many places to go, but remember...

You can ALWAYS go to God! Whether you have to work from home now or you're doing your best to educate your children, you can be sure to find a place of peace when you go to God!

"And when we cried unto the Lord God of our fathers, the Lord heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression: And the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders:"
Deuteronomy 26:7‭-‬8.

What it must have been like to leave Egypt! While I don't think we will be quarantined as long as the Israelites were in bondage, I do think there will be a liberating similarity to what it will feel like when this sickness is no longer of concern! What we have to take caution of is a hesitation to turn back. Remember, right after God gave them freedom through Moses, they came up against the water, were being chased by the Pharaoh, and wanted to turn back to their old "normal" in bondage...

But that old place was NOT a place of peace! It was just comfortable to them & they were used to it. They had no idea of the joy & freedom that was beyond the waters! Maybe WE are not meant to go back to our old normal either? Maybe God has something BETTER in store?

"And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O Lord , hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the Lord thy God, and worship before the Lord thy God: And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the Lord thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you."
Deuteronomy 26:10‭-‬11.

This "new normal" may be uncomfortable for us at first because it's new, but maybe it's bringing us to a new, new normal which is better for us & brings us closer to God! We just have to trust Him through the process! Take a look in your kitchen-God has provided! We can dedicate our firstfruits to God in remembrance of the fact that He is watching out for us. We can "rejoice in every good thing which the Lord thy God hath given unto us, and unto our house"!

"Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey." Deuteronomy 26:15.

Keep praying for our people & land to be blessed. God is knocking on the doors of every heart right now. He wants to heal, but He wants our normality & everyday life to include Him, not just in times of desperation! So let's not only pray for healing, but for every heart to love God a little more...including our own!

"Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen." Deuteronomy 27:26.

Again, we need to be keepers of the Word!! Keepers of the love of God! Rememberers of the provision only He can provide! There is another new normal coming which we can embrace once we embrace our God with open arms!

Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...

The Heart of the Struggle

Focus Scripture: But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 Hello again! It's been about 4 months since I've stepped back into this space, and I have to say, I am taking very gentle steps. It's been on my heart so much to write again, but I am treading lightly. I may not post every day, unless God leads me there again...but for now, I am just moving forward in God's grace. I have some blog ideas stored up that I've been saving over time as I reflect upon His...
