A Real Zeal

Based on 2 Kings 10-12, John 1:29-51

Zeal. Passion. Excitement. Enthusiasm. Some things which can be easily lost in translation as we go through each day...because it becomes more about "getting through it" than "going through it." It's usually less about victorious celebration and more about just feeling exhausted until the next battle comes our way...but let's do something different! As much as we try to pray for strength to get through, let's pray for a zeal to go through it all with a renewed desire, passion & zeal! If we depend on God, we don't have to lose that!

"And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it be, give me thine hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot. And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot." 2 Kings 10:15‭-‬16

Jehu had a boldness, passion & zeal to see God's plan prevail! He was careful to be around people whose hearts were on the same level he was. It's always good to be around those that uplift instead of people who try to pull you down into a pit of bitterness, but we must remember to pray for those people as well so they can also rise to the occasion! If you're seeking a renewed passion for God & for life, seek out those Spiritual influences who will lead you in the right direction! Get planted in a Bible-believing church! A pastor with Spiritual soundness & leadership will help keep you going! The church is a family which helps one another stay encouraged, energized & alive in Christ!

"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me." John 1:29‭-‬30

John the Baptist was always in awe of Jesus. In keeping his eyes on Jesus, he was able to do the bold. The courageous. To stay active in his ministry...even though he lived in a wilderness. Even though he was thrown into many uncomfortable situations-like calling out the king for his sins! He didn't let even the fear of death steal his zeal! We just need to strive for the true Prize-Jesus Christ! In following closely after Him, we won't lose momentum, we will gain it! All other goals that are against God's Will for our lives will cause us to lose the excitement, but with God, nothing is impossible!!
