A Saving Stillness
Reading of the Day: Exodus 14-16
Exodus 14:13: And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
Remember that overwhelming feeling of excitement and anticipation as Israel finally left Egypt? Now replace that with the other end of the extreme: panic, fear, restlessness, and helplessness. How could the feelings flip so quickly? That's because their freedom included a Red Sea. Freedom in The Lord does not mean we are free FROM problems...it means we are free IN our problems! We are always free to call on the Name of The Lord! The Israelites experienced normal human feelings of fear & dread while they approached the Red Sea with the Egyptians chasing them...but they should have doused those fires of doubt quickly when they remembered what God had just done in Egypt! Even if we feel like we are coming up to a "Red Sea" moment in our lives, we should not be paralyzed in fear-but we should be still in peace! Stillness and paralyzation are 2 different things! Stillness in Jesus is a saving state of being, while paralyzation in fear leads to failure! When we are paralyzed, we panic. We're restless. We make rash decisions. But saving stillness in The Lord allows us to be calm, peaceful, prayerful & practical as we go forward trusting Him every step of the way! So, as Moses said..."Fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD!"
