A Song for Tomorrow

Reading of the Day 5/1/25: 1 Chronicles 23-25

1 Chronicles 25:3: Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD.

During these readings, I found it interesting that there were a few times where it talked about prophesying with instruments...in this case, a harp. They were used to give thanks & praise too, as we are familiar with during times of worship & song. But it's just interesting that the word "prophesied" is connected with it as well. It made me think of the fact that our songs & our worship to God are not only meant for today...but we can prophesy in our times of worship that God will answer our prayers! That God WILL show up tomorrow just like He did today! That we don't have to worry or fear the unknown! So that song we sing for today is also for tomorrow! It prophesies that our God, Who is good, will ALWAYS be good! It's always good to sing our Sunday song at church...but what about Monday? Are we so quick to lose the splendor & wonder of God? We need to sing in our moment, but also sing a song for tomorrow! We need to continue to encourage ourselves in The Lord before we walk into unfamiliar territory. We may be unsure of tomorrow, but we can always sing of the assurance we have in our awesome God!
