A Sweet Moment

Based on Exodus 29-30, Matthew 21:23-46

It's a wonder to think of what it must have been like to see Jesus face to face in person! Imagine being the woman at the well, a blind person, or one of the apostles! What would the conversation be like? It would surely have been a sweet moment to savor!

In the Old Testament, God personally met with Aaron every morning & evening on the altar of incense:

"And thou shalt put it before the veil that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee. And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations." Exodus 30:6‭-‬8.

This perpetual sweet incense has indeed lasted throughout the generations-because our prayers go up today as sweet incense to The Lord! Just as God received these offerings and sacrifices, He receives our prayers today! With that sweet incense came a sweet anointing, too!

"Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin: And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony, And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the altar of incense," Exodus 30:23‭-‬27.

Are we ready vessels? Ready to send up incense of prayer? Ready to receive an anointing upon our lives? In order to prepare for that, we must desire it enough to be set apart & surrendered fully to God! Praying is a serious thing-God always hears! The anointing of God's Hand upon our lives is serious too-we become ready to grow in ministries! Think about it-the priests had to have a heart & mind for this daily commitment...so why would God expect any less of all of us? All of us can now approach God at the holy of holies every time we enter into prayer!

Let's purpose ourselves to take the steps necessary this year to find those sweet moments of prayer with God. Let's pursue that anointing! Remember, it all starts with making a decision to be set-apart and ready for God's greatness! God hears every prayer, and when we have His Spirit, He quickens us further into the Spiritual realm and the things of God! It's essential for our salvation!!

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
