Blind-Sided
Based on Job 28-29, Acts 13:1-25
"God understandeth the way thereof, And he knoweth the place thereof. For he looketh to the ends of the earth, And seeth under the whole heaven; To make the weight for the winds; And he weigheth the waters by measure." Job 28:23-25
God sees it all, and knows all we do. We may not think He cares to watch everything, but in reality, HE DOES! HE TOTALLY, FULLY AND TRULY CARES! He understands our ways. He knows the places we go. He looks to the ends of the earth, under all of Heaven! God is not blind, but at times, we just have blind sight of what He is doing! When we are not looking for God's Hand upon all we do, we are blind to His involvement in our lives! We need to open faithful eyes. Spiritual eyes. This way we will not be blind-sided by disaster. Instead, we will really be able to focus in on God & what He is up to!
"And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord." Acts 13:11-12
Elymus the sorcerer tried to turn a deputy's heart away from what Paul & Barnabas were speaking. Elymus was trying to "blind-side" the deputy, only keeping him focused on lies, deceit & witchcraft. Paul caught on to what he was trying to do, and instead of the deputy being led astray, the sorcerer was the one who literally got blind-sided! Now, it was HIM needing someone to lead & guide him, just as the deit was needing someone to show him the Truth! This increased the deputy's faith!
When God opens our eyes to what He is doing, how He is always there, we won't get alarmed by what goes on in the world! We have a greater trust! Just as Paul needed a blind-siding experience to actually help him get closer to God, the deputy needed to see the blindness of this sorcerer in order to see the power of God! If we are blind, we need to see! If we can see, we can't let ourselves get so blind-sided by life that we forget about our loving God, who is always there for us!
