Borders, not Limits

Reading of the Day: Joshua 15-17

Joshua 15:20: This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

The people of Israel, at this point, were still dividing up the land according to the tribes & families. As we read through this, it's easy to question why this was so important to be included in the Word of God. But then you think, any contract needs to be filed, saved & documented. It adds to the history of that location. So this also adds to the validity of God's Word & that these were real living people, living in real lands, living real lives...but God's Word is so much more than that! The treasures in this text are so much more than a historical document of borders of different lands...it truly shows me the difference between borders & limits! With God, borders are put in place as defining factors, not necessarily an end of access. The borders defined who Israel was for the moment, but God allowed them victory after victory in order to expand their borders & conquer new territories! So while borders help us to define who we are as Christians & differentiate from the world, these borders are not limits to the freedom we have in reaching the lost! There is no soul that's off-limits to enjoying a life-changing, life-defining experience with God! In the New Testament it says, Mark 16:15: "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." There may be borders between countries. There may be barriers in our understandings of each culture. But there are no limitations with God! Some how, some way, God will use each one of us to cross some borders & push through barriers to get to some souls! God will help us learn & grow in the areas we need to in order to find common ground. We don't have to feel limited by the borders set in our lives! God has set us apart as His people to be different on purpose! That difference is the shining light the souls need to find some hope in a lost world! Borders are important for safety & protection, but even with those borders, God will make a way for every soul to know Him...and we are all a part of that story! Let's pray through our borders, no longer looking at them as limitations, but as a defining part of who we are. God's love will overcome it all in Jesus' Name!
