Bread & Water

Gina Pietrzak

Based on Exodus 15-16

"So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water." Exodus 15:22

After leaving the amazing site of the miracle at the Red Sea, the Israelites follow Moses to a place with no water...and this was just as devastating to them as it was before God parted the waters. How quick they were to forget that amazing sight! They were just 3 days removed from that miracle, and already "on to the next problem." This time, instead of too much water, there was none at all. Instead of seeing it as an opportunity for God to show them His love & care, they saw it as just another obstacle in the way...

"and said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters." Exodus 15:26‭-‬27

God spoke through Moses to remind the Israelites that through their obedience to His Word & trust, God would come through for them again! Sure enough, He gave them water! Then came a new concern: the bread. And sure enough, the people doubted & complained about whether or not they would be cared for...but of course, God said:

"...Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no." Exodus 16:4

Bread. Water. Simple stuff. But sometimes, we just don't trust. We just don't submit & subject ourselves fully to God's plan...we think our way is better. But God CAN and WILL supply ALL our needs, even down to simple bread & water. When we consume the bread of His Word & water it with prayer, we will see each promise fulfilled & God's provision upon our lives!

Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...

The Heart of the Struggle

Focus Scripture: But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 Hello again! It's been about 4 months since I've stepped back into this space, and I have to say, I am taking very gentle steps. It's been on my heart so much to write again, but I am treading lightly. I may not post every day, unless God leads me there again...but for now, I am just moving forward in God's grace. I have some blog ideas stored up that I've been saving over time as I reflect upon His...
