Breaking the Yokes

Gina Pietrzak

Based on Jeremiah 28-30.

"2: Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
3: Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD's house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon:" Jeremiah 28:2-3.

Is there something (or things) you're trying hard to forget about? A painful memory? Oh how good it feels to break ties with a part of our past that holds us back & holds us down! That's how it must have felt to know that, although the Babylonian captivity was of God, God would break the yoke & break the ties with the king of Babylon one day. One day, they'd return as one people, ruled by God. One day, they would finally say they overcame their life of idolatry & sin!

"6: Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD's house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place." Jeremiah 28:6.

Jeremiah must have felt relieved to be able to give some positive news! He was mostly telling God's people things they did not want to hear. Finally, he was able to speak to them about the liberation of His people! We too can experience this same liberation, breaking the yokes of our past, when we give it all to Jesus after true repentance, baptism of water & baptism of Spirit! Then living a life of holiness keeps us separated from the yoke of sin!

"For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Matthew 11:30.

We take upon us a whole different yoke & burden with Jesus! The only burden we carry is to be lights to the other souls of the world, leading them to our God, Jesus Christ!

"11: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
12: Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13: And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-13.

God only wants to give us what's best for us. It may seem difficult at first, but in the end, we will find joy, peace & rest! We need to seek Him with our whole hearts so the whole yoke of our past is broken!

"8: For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:
9: But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.
10: Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid." Jeremiah 30:8-10.

Yokes broken! Bonds burst! A new life begins with Jesus!!!

Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...

The Heart of the Struggle

Focus Scripture: But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 Hello again! It's been about 4 months since I've stepped back into this space, and I have to say, I am taking very gentle steps. It's been on my heart so much to write again, but I am treading lightly. I may not post every day, unless God leads me there again...but for now, I am just moving forward in God's grace. I have some blog ideas stored up that I've been saving over time as I reflect upon His...
