...But I got this!

Reading of the Day 5/13/25: 2 Chronicles 30-32

2 Chronicles 32:8: With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

As we study this particular Scripture, there is so much hope behind it! Sometimes, we struggle to believe that we are stronger than what we are up against...and in reality, we're right! We do not have the strength to face most things...if not everything. We can go at it alone, and even with the most "I got this" attitude, we can still fall short. And even in the times where we do come out successful, the struggle would not have been nearly as great if we trusted in God first! So whether we believe we never can, or we are invincible, God is always The One to turn to before we trust any other! Even our own selves! When the king of Assyria was coming up against Judah & Israel, king Hezekiah reminded the people that even though the king of Assyria was intimidating, he was only flesh! God was with them & would fight their battles! And the people were able to rest on those words! When we trust in ourselves without bringing the "God factor" into our battle, we have to admit that we cannot rest on that! We go at it trying to look brave on the outside, but on the inside, we are doubting ourselves every step of the way. Any confidence or pride we try to have is only a mask, because we can never be sure we will be victorious if we did not pray & seek The Lord beforehand! The king of Assyria put on that same mask, saying, "...But I got this!" ...until he didn't! God was surely with His people: 2 Chronicles 32:20-22: "And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.

And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.

Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side." So, we need these Scriptures for 2 very important reasons: 1. Our enemies are only flesh! 2. We are only flesh if we don't rely on The Lord! Remember, when we say, "...But I got this!" we will only get so far...we will always go further standing on The Lord's side!
