Carried Away
Reading of the Day: 2 Kings 15-17
2 Kings 17:23: Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.
On this Resurrection Sunday, we remember how Jesus made a way when there seems to be no way! He made a way for us to be closer to Him than we ever thought possible, because by repenting, getting baptized & receiving the Holy Ghost, we go through the death, burial & Resurrection of Jesus! We die to ourselves, wash away the old & receive the new with His Spirit inside of us! You just can't get closer than that! As we celebrate this day, we must remember that most of us come from far away places to get to Jesus. In the Old Testament, we see in these chapters that Israel got carried away many times by the ways of the world...and when their hearts were carried away, God allowed them to literally be carried away out of the land He promised them! They were unable to dwell there without allowing God to dwell in their hearts! Unfortunately, as humans, we've all been there...we've all put other things before God at times, even if we don't want to admit it. We all get carried away. But, there is hope! This is why we celebrate this day! There is a type of being "carried away" which we can look forward to! This is called the Rapture of the church! Jesus is coming back for His people, and when we go through His death, burial & Resurrection by repenting, getting baptized & receiving the Holy Ghost, we are recognized as His own! We get to be caught away with Him in the air! We should live for this moment of being caught away, not being carried away by the ways of this world...this way, we can live in the promised land of Heaven with Jesus forever!
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18: "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
