Comfort & Joy
Bible Reading Today: 1 Corinthians 16, 2 Corinthians 1-2
2 Corinthians 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
"Oh tidings of comfort & joy..." Just one of the many Christmas songs we sing this time of year. But what I thought about was that Jesus has become, to many people, just part of the Christmas decor. Just another word you hear in December, along with "silver bells" and "mistletoe." We sing that God brings us tidings of comfort & joy, yet Jesus is one of the main Subjects people get uncomfortable talking about. Everyone will sing a Christmas song, but not many will profess their faith. The Comforter did not come as our Savior to only be represented one time a year! The Light of the World did not come to be hidden behind the glamour & glow of our Christmas lights! There is nothing wrong with those things, just as long as the spotlight of our Christmas season (and life in general) is about Jesus! Let's not be uncomfortable talking about the comfort & joy of The Lord all year long! I want to be more intentional in processing the Reason for the season with my children, because in doing so, we process the reason we have the gift of life today. Join me on this Christmas journey with your family! Get comfortable talking about the Comforter, and you'll be the bearer of the true tidings of comfort & joy.
