Commit through Conflict

Based on Genesis 31-32, Matthew 9:18-38

It's difficult to get over a disagreement quickly...so many emotions...and sometimes, pride doesn't allow for a solution. Thankfully, Jesus has a solution for us. In fact, He IS the Solution! Through a humble, consistent commitment to Him, we will not only get through our problems, but those leftover emotions won't linger for long! Just commit to Christ through the conflict!

Sometimes (most of the time) these conflicts take place right within our families. For example, Jacob had issues with his father-in-law Laban:

"Now therefore come thou, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee. And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar."
Genesis 31:44‭-‬45.

Another pillar was built! Even though Laban and Jacob were both guilty of different types of deception, they maturely humbled themselves and put it behind them. When situations arise like these conflicts, don't hang onto hate! Just as this pillar was built, work at gently re-building those relationships with others! Also...WE CAN'T TO IT ALONE! God always brings the ultimate healing, peace & solution to our problems with others...and that's because He is watching, even when we are not!

"And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed; And Mizpah; for he said, The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another."
Genesis 31:48-49.

Now to be honest, Jacob wrestled with a lot of people and issues...He also was at odds with his brother Esau for taking his blessing (and birthright)! But the most important thing he had to overcome was himself...and submit to God! Once we also do that, we can be at peace and things start going right again! Jacob wrestled within himself and his flesh for far too long, then came a moment where he wrestled with God...and Jacob was no longer a deceiver; he was devoted to God!

"And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed." Genesis 32:28.

...And he sure did prevail! He ended up making peace with Esau after this humble submission to God! Whether it be between family or with someone we don't know as well, just give it to God in prayer! Stop wrestling with it! God will work miracles!

"And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you." Matthew 9:28‭-‬29.

Do you believe Jesus is able to do this? To heal a body, or even a conflict? To bring peace? Once we submit to Him and give Him control of our lives, His power overcomes every problem!
