Confidence 

"Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear: To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress." Psalms 10:17‭-‬18. Confidence can be a daily struggle for some of us; I feel like I can totally relate to this! If we don't have outgoing personalities, we do have to work a lot at being ready to be around people or prepare a work presentation. Intimidation seems inevitable...but it doesn't have to be! Not only will God give us confidence, boldness & strength when we ask, but no matter what we feel, we can have confidence that God has the power to solve any problem, no matter what we are capable of! That's what God was trying to instill into Moses!

The first confidence struggle is this: What authority do I have with these people? Why would they listen to me?

"And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee." Exodus 4:1.

When God called Moses to be the one to go let His people go from the hand of the Egyptians, he felt very unqualified. But remember, God doesn't choose us to do things because we are special. He chooses people who are just willing to listen to instructions. God answered:

"...What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it."
Exodus 4:2‭-‬3.

After this, Moses was able to hold the tail and the snake turned back into a rod! See, IT'S ALL GOD! God did not tell Moses: "Don't worry, I'll let them know how credible and qualified you are to be working for me." Nope. God wanted the Israelites, and also Pharaoh and the Egyptians, to know the power of God and the confidence we can have in Him! But God does want to use us, so we need to let God build up a little confidence in us just the same!

The next confidence struggle is: If these people DID know me, they'd know my weaknesses. How would they be able to trust me then?

"And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue."
Exodus 4:10.

Moses was not very good at public speaking. He had a slight speech problem. Again, Moses forgot something. If God planned to send Moses out on his own, this fear could be a problem. But, Moses was NOT going out on his own! In fact, when God wants to use us and work through us, those little physical flaws don't matter! God is not hindered:

"And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?" Exodus 4:11. After this statement, God tells Moses that He will be his mouth to speak. But Moses pushes just a little further and asks for someone else to speak for him. God does get a little angry at this point (Exodus 4:14) but God does agree to send Aaron, Moses' brother, along with him to speak.

Throughout Exodus 5 & 6, many more things happen to test Moses' confidence. Pharaoh rejects the first request to let the Hebrews go, and he ends up making the workload even harder on the slaves. Therefore, the slaves were very angry with Moses & Aaron too. Moses then asks The Lord:

"...Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all."
Exodus 5:22‭-‬23.

God responds that with HIS strength, the people will be set free (Exodus 6:1). He also says:

"...I am the Lord: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them. And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.
Exodus 6:2‭-‬4.

Have confidence in God's covenant! What once was true is always true with God! If He has called you to do something, and there is something in life that intimidates you, just remember Moses & his confidence struggles. It's all found in God! HE WILL PREPARE US!
