Correction Perfection 

Based on Jeremiah 46-48

"25: The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saith; Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him: 26: And I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterward it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the LORD." Jeremiah 46:25-26.

I found this passage so interesting, because it shows that, although we might get led astray, God doesn't allow the ones who led us astray to go unpunished. We may get ourselves into some crazy predicaments, but God uses every angle of our situation to try to reach out to us, to show us what our choice should have been.

As we mentioned before, the Israelites should have listened to God's Word spoken through Jeremiah to stay in their land under Babylonian captivity rather than go to Egypt. Thry did not want to listen, and went to Egypt anyway. However, God brought it all full circle in the above Scripture! The Egyptians would be given over to the Babylonians anyway!

"28: Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished." Jeremiah 46:28.

Israel was going to be corrected, but as God said, He would always be with them, drawing them back...not only to the land, but to His heart! That's how it is with us. God uses many different ways to correct us & bring us back into His perfection process! We will never be completely perfect as God is, but we can be as perfect as we allow God to make us:

"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Matthew 5:48.

Are we willing to "stand corrected"?

"12: Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.
13: And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence." Jeremiah 48:12-13.

God had the same plan for Moab as He did with Egypt. Whether God gets to know us through His love or through His wrath is our choice...everyone will know God somehow...let's let God correct us to perfection instead of just awaiting a punishment. Let that humble correction bring us to the people we need to be in Christ!
