Creating Community
Bible Reading Today: Proverbs 10-12
By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked. Proverbs 11:11
This Proverb, complemented by Proverbs 18:21: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." , just shows that our speech has the power to create unity, or disunity...a collective community, or a scattered society. The blessing of the upright exalts & builds up a city, but the wicked overthow everything positive that the city is trying to become. We need to be in the business of speaking the Truth in love to others, watching our country grow & thrive: "but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:" Ephesians 4:15. We should not cause division for the sake of a cause, because that will not cause the result being sought after! The greatest cause is The Kingdom's Cause, and our One God knows unity better than any other! Only complete dependence on our God, Jesus Christ, will create the community we seek-and it all starts with speaking His Word!
