Dark Times

Gina Pietrzak

Based on Psalms 87-88, Romans 13

"For my soul is full of troubles: And my life draweth nigh unto the grave. I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:"

Psalm 88:3‭-‬4

There are those of us that have "dark times." We suffer emotional pain & trauma from a specific situation, where our soul is, as the Scripture states, full of troubles, as if the grave is calling us...sure, they are grave, dark times...but that doesn't mean we have to become like the dark! That doesn't mean we have to have a deathly, dark, dim & depressing personality! We don't have to forget God in the process and be "in the dark," away from His light! There is still hope, if we do allow ourselves to find it...

"Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, And mine acquaintance into darkness." Psalm 88:18

We usually suffer our dark times alone. Our friends are lost beyond the darkness, out of reach for us...since we are also in darkness...we cannot see anything...but that's when we need to know God is there! He is there in the seen & unseen, and He ALWAYS sees us...we just have to call out and reach for the light, not taking on more ways of darkness & sin because we don't want to cry out to God!

"And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." Romans 13:11‭-‬12

We have to awake out of sleep! We can't stay in the dark! We've spent way too much time in the night season. The unknown season. The dark season...it's time to put on the armor of light and where it boldly, reaching back into the darkness to rescue others by reminding them of the God who SAVES!

Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...

The Heart of the Struggle

Focus Scripture: But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 Hello again! It's been about 4 months since I've stepped back into this space, and I have to say, I am taking very gentle steps. It's been on my heart so much to write again, but I am treading lightly. I may not post every day, unless God leads me there again...but for now, I am just moving forward in God's grace. I have some blog ideas stored up that I've been saving over time as I reflect upon His...
