Direction

Based on 1 Chronicles 26-27

Where to now? And what do we do now? I feel like the first question is easier to ask than the second. We are all ok with directions that tell us general guidelines of where to go, but how about specific directions on what to do? Ultimately, we like to make our own choices in terms of what to do, but a nudge in the right direction in terms of where to go doesn't bother us...but I think it's time to stop just wanting hints from God, and start seeking direct answers! That's what David did!

David was king over all Israel, and he followed God's specific directions:

"8: All these of the sons of Obededom: they and their sons and their brethren, able men for strength for the service, were threescore and two of Obededom.
9: And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, strong men, eighteen." 1 Chronicles 26:8-9.

David knew not only what tribe to go to in order to choose his people of service, but he knew WHO to choose as well! Down to the very person! God Numbers them specifically in His Word to show that each person matters. Each choice matters. We need to seek God for answers!

"13: And they cast lots, as well the small as the great, according to the house of their fathers, for every gate.
14: And the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah. Then for Zechariah his son, a wise counselor, they cast lots; and his lot came out northward.
15: To Obededom southward; and to his sons the house of Asuppim.
16: To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came forth westward, with the gate Shallecheth, by the causeway of the going up, ward against ward." 1 Chronicles 26:13-16.

Each person obeyed where their lots fell in terms of the direction they should go: north, south, east or west, and which gate to choose.

Especially today, we are all looking for life's handbook. Sometimes we don't want to admit it because we want to go our own way & do our own thing, but I think we feel down in our conscience that there's a longing for help. Guidance. Direction. ANSWERS. As you can see listed, God cares about SPECIFIC details! He will give you what you need!

"33: And Ahithophel was the king's counselor: and Hushai the Archite was the king's companion:" 1 Chronicles 27:33.

The people and king David himself need wise godly counselors & companions! It doesn't hurt to have help! That's what a Pastor is for. That's what God's church is for. When spiritual people lead your life, you will succeed! When you have your own personal relationship with God, you will feel so calm & content!

Seek God's direction on where to go and what to do. It will make a difference for you!
