Election after Rejection

Reading of the Day: Judges 9-11

Judges 11:7: And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expel me out of my father's house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in distress?

The brothers of Jephthah wanted nothing to do with him because he did not have the same mother that they had. The Scripture says they literally thrust him out! So of course, he moved out, moved on & moved in to a land called Tob. After a while, his brethren were being attacked in Israel by the children of Ammon, and so they ran to find Jephthah to make him captain over them & lead the army in battle! We then come to the above Scripture, where he basically says, "You hated me, now you are running to me for help?" And even in the shock he was in, he decided to step up & help his brothers. The interesting thing is, they didn't just say, "Could you help us out?" They actually wanted him to LEAD all of the brethren! It reminds me of Joseph too. Both of these people went through some low forms of rejection before truly receiving their rightful election! It can be hard, but if we humble ourselves & don't fight the process, The Lord will lift us up in due time! It may look like a losing battle. It may get worse before it gets better. But God always has a way of lifting the lowest! He always finds those who feel rejected & allows them to be elected as a true son or daughter of The King! Matthew 5:5 says, "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." We may look like the weakest, but we know our place & status in Jesus is so much higher...and this high calling requires humility. Lowliness. Meekness. And sometimes rejection...but in the end, just remember, Jesus will give us an amazing election!
