Enough Already!
Based on Exodus 4-6, Matthew 14:22-36
You mean to tell me it's possible for things to get better? You mean to tell me that God is still in control?? What if I've been suffering for years? REALLY? ENOUGH ALREADY!!
The way the world is going these days, it seems like we might just want to cover our ears & run away. Who is telling the truth? Who is going to offer something that works? When will there be peace in the world? It all starts in people's hearts! God has been diligently getting to the heart of the matter since the beginning of time, and all along the way, those who were open to God found peace & prospered. Those who closed God out found themselves closed out from peace & a fruitful life!
"And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the Lord. And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage." Exodus 6:7-9.
The biggest mistake is to tune out God when the going gets tough! The above passage really fascinated me...we know about the hardness of Pharaoh's heart in not letting Israel go (which we will soon read more about), but how about how closed-off Israel was to Moses' message of freedom? They were so tired, grieved & abused that they couldn't get themselves to believe God was going to help them through Moses! But again, that's the biggest mistake! We keep ourselves in bondage when we stop believing in God! We know that soon God will part the waters & bring His people to freedom in a miraculous way! Thank God Moses kept fighting for Israel!
...And we know God did many, many more miracles! We can't forget Who God is and what He can do! Just ask Peter when he wanted to walk on water with our God, Jesus:
"But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased."
Matthew 14:30-32.
No matter if we've been crying out for a long time, like the Israelites who were in bondage, or a quick cry for help like Peter, we can't give up!! We can't reject the idea of being saved, as the Israelites eventually did, because of the length of our suffering. Remember Joseph! What may seem like suffering is just the preparation for the next best miracle in our lives!
So, it's not time for us to say "enough already" to God, it's time for us to say "enough already" to our problems, fears, doubts & unbelief!!
