Entourage of Encouragement

Bible Reading Today: 1 Samuel 28-31, Psalm 18

1 Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

Although David had a harp which once soothed Saul of the evil spirit, he had something even more powerful as a tool of soothing, comfort and encouragement-His God! Each song and Psalm played upon his harp sang praises unto The Lord anyway! His instrument was not an instrument of entertainment-it was an instrument of worship! That is why Saul was ultimately soothed, and why David was always on the winning side! Entertainment only encourages us, or pacifies us, temporarily...but The Lord & His Word is an entourage of encouragement! Feeling bombarded by overwhelming situations? Get bombarded by The Word of God and see things really change for the better! People were in panic mode in the passage of Scripture above, because their camp was raided, their wives were taken, and the people turned on David and wanted to stone him-a mean mob meant David needed an entourage of encouragement-so he encouraged HIMSELF in The Lord his God! It wasn't coming from anywhere else...he couldn't find one shoulder to cry on...and so he turned to God, and recovered all! Next time a mean mob or mess comes your way, be relieved in the entourage of encouragement found in God's Word!

Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...
