Favor with The Father

Based on Genesis 38-40

"And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand."

Genesis 39:2‭-‬4

From where we last left Joseph, it seemed like both a rough end & a rough beginning. Out of His Father's house, and into the hands of the Egyptians. But one thing was for sure-He was still in God's Hands, too! And even though he was out of His father's house & his protection, he still kept up a connection with his Heavenly Father. Joseph left a place where he was highly favored, but he would soon see that in lifting God up above himself, God would restore him to many places of favor, even in Egypt! Do we have trouble speaking & claiming that God is still good when our situations are bad? Let's change that! God is good all the time! He is not the source of the bad, and He can bring good out of our worst! In speaking a good report in a bad time, we will find favor with our Heavenly Father too!

"But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison."

Genesis 39:21

From the master to the prison keeper, God gave Joseph favor. What could have been an "I give up" became an "I give it up" to God yet again! If Joseph could prosper from the pit, to Potiphar, to the prison, we can prosper as we put our trust in God as well!

"The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper." Genesis 39:23

The keeper of the prison didn't even need to keep watch over what Joseph did in the prison. He trusted Joseph because Joseph trusted in God. Joseph never stopped being in favor with His Father. He may not always have been with Jacob, but he always walked with God! God is with us, wherever we are, but we need to be listening & obedient in order for God to give us favor with those around us. Favor with our Father should always come first!
