From a Distance
Based on Jeremiah 46-47, Hebrews 6
"But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid." Jeremiah 46:27
Are we ok with loving God from a distance? Do we have a desire to only get so close, but yet so far? What do we fear of the full investment into God's Kingdom? The above Scripture states that Israel will be saved from being afar off, during the time of their captivity. Being afar off from God IS a big deal! It's worth saving us from. God doesn't want to just look on and say, "My people are managing quite well on their own." He wants to see eye to eye in a loving relationship, not from a distance!
"that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:" Hebrews 6:18
We must FLEE for refuge! We must RUN to God! A relationship doesn't happen overnight...we don't just say, "Wow, without doing a thing, I know everything about this person." There is a thing that must be done! In running to God in prayer & reading His Word, we lay hold on the hope set before us. We secure an eternal relationship as well, following through with obedience to His Will & His Ways. God created our heartbeats, but He wants to connect our heartbeats with His!
"which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;" Hebrews 6:19
Again, He is sure! He is secure! We don't have to wonder about Him...we can wait on Him. We can count on Him. We can be free to tear down the barriers which keep us distanced from our Savior! There probably won't be a fence around Heaven to sit on...there's only One Way there! His Name is JESUS!
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38
