From the Deepest Wounds
Based on Psalms 129-131, 1 Corinthians 11:1-16
"Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, May Israel now say: Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: Yet they have not prevailed against me." Psalm 129:1-2
Sometimes, even from childhood, we experience traumatic occurrences which leave us scarred & wounded. Many a time, as the Psalmist says, has he felt this affliction from his youth, as well as that of Israel. While we still carry memories, we have to also remember that "memories" are all those afflictions have become! God has truly brought each one of us through so much...and the Psalmist goes to claim that those past afflictions have not prevailed! We can't let our past prevail over us! We have to let God help us grow to the highest heights out of the deepest wounds!
"The LORD is righteous: He hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked." Psalm 129:4
Let God cut the cords which attach us to the past! If you haven't let God be your Solution by being your Savior, then there is no better reason to repent, get baptized in Jesus' Name & receive the wonderful, refreshing & needful gift of the Holy Ghost! Our past can be the greatest prison...Jesus can free us from the grips of the deepest wounds!
"Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice: Let thine ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications." Psalm 130:1-2
Out of the depths! Out of the deepest wounds! Out of our lowest of lows, God hears us!! He IS attentive to the voice of our supplications. He wants us to call upon His Name in order to be uprooted out of our wounds & re-rooted in The Word of God!
"I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, And in his word do I hope." Psalm 130:5
We hope in His Word, and we can pray these Scriptures over ourselves in order to finally pull off the bandaid covering our past, in which we finally get to the root cause of the issue, letting God take the pain away completely instead of covering it up! There IS hope in Jesus! If your past is still prevailing over your present, abide in the presence of God!
