Glory in the Glum

Reading of the Day: Psalms 66-68

Psalms 68:13: Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.

"Though ye have lien among the pots..." This Scripture really made me stop & think. I had to look up exactly what this was referring to. Other translations say, "Though you have been in the sheep pens" or "sheepfolds" which makes sense, since these are the words of David. It was referring to an ordinary place. A place which feels so familiar, routine & as though nothing special would come out of it. But as this Scripture says, this is the place where you shall "...be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold." This ordinary place God has planted us can actually be a thriving, lively, and lovely place if we just appreciate that this is where God wants us to be...and He never does anything in vain! We are planted with purpose, ON purpose! It may seem like a challenge to deal with the difficulties we face in our personal lives...we might be responsible for many sheep, or children...never able to separate one day from the next, and not really feeling like anything we do makes a difference. But, in reality, we just forgot we had wings! Those wings are the Spiritual God factor which lifts us to our greatest potential. And we then realize, that our children are our greatest ministry, and even the small things, the hard things, and the everyday things done in love will really make a difference! Maybe we are in the sheep pens, or the play pens. Maybe we are really "among the pots" of dishes in the sink. And maybe, we can really see God's glory in the glum! Life with children is beautifully messy, and perfectly imperfect, and I cannot wait to face each day as I seek the face of God first!
