God is Always There!
Based on Genesis 36-38, Matthew 10:21-42
"And a man's foes shall be they of his own household." Matthew 10:36.
As was previously posted, conflict is the most common habit in our lives! Especially with those we live with. Sibling rivalry is a big one! It may not be that bad, the occasional fight here & there...but in Joseph's case, sibling conflicts had life-changing consequences...it all started with those of his own household! Somehow, God used His unfortunate situation for His glory in the end, and as we continue reading about Joseph, we will see that God is ALWAYS there!
"And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him; And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it." Genesis 37:23-24.
Joseph's brothers envied him so much because of the favor he received from his father, and the dreams he had. His brothers constantly felt "below" him. So, they let Joseph know how it literally felt to be low down & humbled. This one act caused Joseph to be taken away as a slave to Egypt, and so much more conflict to come...but through these humble circumstances, God raised Him up again. When no one else was there, GOD WAS!
"And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content." Genesis 37:26-27.
Sometimes, we feel so betrayed by the ones we love...but just think about how Jesus felt at the cross! He loves us ALL. So He experienced the ultimate betrayal. Jesus knows how it feels. He is God. He understands our feelings. If you feel like crying out in frustration, cry out to God in prayer!
