God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Based on Micah 1-3, Revelation 11
"Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction." Micah 2:10
...and the random posting continues! Don't worry-I promise we WILL finish our readings & posts by the end of this year! I pray you had a joyful & restful Christmas time with your loved ones. In keeping with the Christmas themes once again, today "rest" stood out to me, and so of course, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" came to mind! This scripture states to arise & depart, for this is not our rest...how long have we stayed in a difficult position we weren't (or aren't) supposed to be in? Are you in a place of rest right now, or restlessness?
"And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever." Revelation 11:15
God can easily take every kingdom, every position, every situation, and make it subject to Him...but will we surrender it? Will we allow God to take away the things which are causing us stress, or will we continue to restlessly fight in our own power to find a solution? God is true rest for us, not only as we gaze upon the nativity scene at Christmastime, but as we gaze & look ahead to the new year...it may seem like a scary place, but with our Lord Jesus, we WILL find rest in the year to come! We CAN keep Christmas in our hearts by keeping Christ at the center of our lives!
