Going through the Motions

Bible Reading 9/20: Haggai

Haggai 1:5 Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

Routine tends to have its own momentum. We can easily get caught up in doing things the same way constantly, just like we would chasing after new levels of thrill and excitement. When we get caught up, on either side of the spectrum, and just continue to go through the motions without God, we will always feel like something is missing! Either our routine will become boring, or each new form of excitement will lose its splendor at an even faster rate. So, as this Scripture says, we need to consider our ways. We need to think intentionally about the decisions we make. The prophet Haggai told this to the people of his day. They had forgotten the importance of building the House of The Lord. They kept saying, "It's not time yet." Then, Haggai basically told them it's time to stop wasting time! We need to build God's Kingdom, not our own. We need to stop & think about how much God loves us, and how building a relationship with Him is what will ultimately bring us joy & fulfillment. Let's take a step outside our lives to step into the greater things God has planned for us! Let's stop going through the motions & consider it!
