Hath I not sent thee?

Based on Judges 4-6, Luke 4:31-44

"And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh–naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun? And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand." Judges 4:6‭-‬7.

Sometimes, we all need a reminder of what God's capable of...not what we are capable of, because that list ends pretty quickly...but when we remind ourselves of God's strength & power, we don't have to fear the situation we are thrown into!

The above Scripture talks of Deborah, a woman of great confidence who judged Israel. [Note to Moms: Women in the Bible did amazing things, especially because they trusted GOD to work through them!] Deborah was confident not in herself, but in her God! She said, "Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded...?" If Israel was to go and fight as God commanded, then the victory would be commanded too!

"And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?" Judges 6:14.

We can also look at the example of Gideon! He did not start out with as much confidence in himself or in God from the beginning, questioning why his people were suffering, but God quickly reminds him, "Have not I sent thee?" It's God who sends us out on this journey we call life! He knows what we will face, if we are willing to face it.

Sometimes, the problem has not yet been solved because we haven't faced it with God! If we don't face God in prayer, we will have no idea how to judge our situations like Deborah. Our confidence will not build up as we will see Gideon's do in later chapters.

We also have to keep going. After one challenge is a greater one...and we have to keep reminding ourselves Who our God is, who we are in Him, and that we can do anything God sends us out in this world to accomplish! We can't stop at our past victories. We can't forget the climb to the mountaintop when we've found a comfortable ledge! We must press on!

"And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent."
Luke 4:42‭-‬43.

As Jesus said, "Therefore am I sent."
