Hidden in Plain Sight

Reading of the Day: Genesis 16-18

Genesis 16:13: And she called the name of the Lord that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?

The woman who is speaking in this Scripture is Hagar. Before she got to this places speaking to The Lord, she was Sarai's servant, and Sarai allowed her husband Abraham to take Hagar as a wife since Sarai thought she was unable to bear a child. After this, Sarai regretted her decision & dealt harshly with Hagar, and she ran away. This brought her to the point in this Scripture. The point where she felt so lonely, helpless & insecure. She did not ask for that situation. She just obeyed Sarai, and was afterward rejected. But little did she know, she was hidden in plain sight-God saw her. And He not only saw her sitting there in a physical location, but He SAW her. He saw her situation. He saw her pain. He saw deep into the depths of her fearful and angry heart. We are never EVER to a point where enough time passes and God no longer cares for us! Hagar was a servant and an outsider to God's people and customs, but He still saw her and told her that her child would be blessed because of Sarai's decision. She was relieved and able to say, "Thou seest me..." And we can say it too! The next verse says that the fountain place where Hagar ran to was called, "Beer-lahai-roi." And so "El Roi" means "the God Who sees me." I just love hanging onto this precious thought! We may feel far away from The Lord at times, but in reality, we are hidden in plain sight! He not only sees where we are, but He sees what our hearts are going through. As Hagar did, call upon Him and get to know the depths of The Lord's love for you!
