His Many Mercies...

Reading of the Day 5/15/25: 2 Chronicles 36, Ezra 1-2

2 Chronicles 36:15: And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:

Once again we see the devastating effects of evil & having our guard down, opened up to temptations & things which keep us distracted and pulled in the wrong direction...but these books have not only been placed in His Word to show us His judgment, but to show us His mercy even more! To be honest, I think these books would not even have been included if it wasn't for the parts showing God's mercy! If all this was going to do was to show "bad=punishment," then it would be very understandable, predictable & hopeless...BUT GOD!! The Scripture above is inserted at a place in this chapter where sin after sin is committed...mistake after mistake is made...and then all of a sudden, God sends many messengers to His people because of His compassion! And sadly, they STILL mock the messengers...so more judgment comes by the attack of the enemy...and then God uses a king of a distant land to speak through to have mercy on His people & help them! God will go to incredible lengths in order to reach us! We need to stop & listen! Sometimes we don't even realize it, but we are so caught up in doing our own thing that we don't notice all God is trying to do to get our attention! Also, we are never too far for Him to reach! No matter what reputation we've created for ourselves, God is ready to give us a clean slate! I am so thankful for the many mercies of God! 1 Chronicles 16:34: "O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever."
