His Mercy Endures Forever!

Based on Jeremiah 43-45, Psalm 118

"1: O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.
2: Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
3: Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever." Psalm 118:1-3.

It's beautiful to think of God's mercy enduring forever-but we can really put emphasis on the Word ENDURE! Through the constant human struggle of obedience and submission to God, He has been there. Yes, there have been times of discipline & chastening, but His mercies are present even then for those who want to change their ways! Just look at what's taking place in our reading in Jeremiah!

"27: Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
28: Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or their's." Jeremiah 44:27-28.

God always has a remnant in mind! He endured so much betrayal & disobedience from His people, yet their was that "small number" He had in mind. His mercies truly have a lot to endure through! Just goes to show that we should & could be enduring a lot more for the sake of our merciful God! Why should we give up so easily when the going gets tough? God sure doesn't!

"16: As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.
17: But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil." Jeremiah 44:16-17.

God's people outright rejected Him. They acknowledged that The Lord spoke through Jeremiah, but they refused to listen anyway. Talk about merciful endurance! God could have left us stranded to walk alone on this earth at that moment, but He didn't! God still moves TODAY! His mercies endure FOREVER!

"29: O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever." Psalm 118:29.

Thank You Lord, for your mercy! You are good, even when we are not! We love You Jesus!!
