I can't believe my eyes!

Based on Numbers 29-31, Mark 9:1-29

Our eyes can be the biggest liars out there! I know that seems like a bold statement, but they can tell us it's hopeless when it's not. They can tell us it's impossible when it's not...

Our physical eyes can't tell us what eyes of faith can tell us! When we lay everything down before Jesus, we surrender our fears of what's going on around us. We say, "This doesn't look good, but we have a good God!" We can't believe our eyes, but we CAN believe GOD!

"Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him." Mark 9:23‭-‬25.

...And the tormenting spirit left the child! The father asked Jesus to help his areas of unbelief. He did believe to a point, but he needed help completely surrendering to Jesus. We are so used to what our eyes tell us. We are so used to giving into fear rather than faith! The father's desire was there, he wanted to believe, but he had to make the bold & faithful decision to do so as he brought his son before Jesus. He had to sacrifice his ways for Jesus' ways, just like the Old Testament children of Israel had to bring their sacrifices, lay them down & surrender:

"But ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the Lord for a sweet savour; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year; they shall be unto you without blemish: And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals to a bullock, and two tenth deals to one ram, A several tenth deal for one lamb, throughout the seven lambs:"
Numbers 29:8‭-‬10.

All God is asking for today is our faith in Him as we obey His Word. He's not asking us to lay animals down upon an altar any longer...He is asking us to lay down our history of sin, unbelief, fear & doubt! We must lay down our ways for His ways, just as Jesus laid down His life for us:

"And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead." Mark 9:9.

Peter, James & John saw Jesus transfigured before them, talking with Moses and Elijah. Peter wanted to make 3 tabernacles, 1 for each of them, because they were afraid & did not know what else to say. Their fear stopped them at their physical sight! 3 were there, but 2 of them had been dead already. It was the power of God, Jesus Himself, Who allowed that occurrence to take place. God made it known by specifying to listen to Him alone, and that they could not talk of this until after the Resurrection of Jesus. The Word then states that Peter, James & John questioned what the Resurrection meant...

If it was easy for the disciples to question & doubt, how easy it must be for us to rely on our eyes! Just as the father who brought his possessed son before Jesus, we must resurrect out of our ways and desire the ways of Christ! Ask for help for any area of unbelief, and replace fear with faith!
