In Dependence

Gina Pietrzak

Based on 1 Peter 5, 2 Peter 1-2, Psalm 131

"But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you."
1 Peter 5:10

God is in the process of perfection. He establishes us, strengthens us, and settles us. There are things in this world we may lean on, but none can fulfill us like Jesus. In dependence on God, we can stand strong against any enemy! A humble approach is more powerful than a prideful independent spirit!

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." 1 Peter 5:7.

When we give it all to God, He doesn't just want our surrender of obedience, but our surrender of our worries and problems, too! In dependence on Jesus, we can get through any circumstance way better than we could independently. Our God is a comforting God!

But how do we know we are better off in dependence on God, rather than fighting our our battles independently? Well, Peter assures us that His Word is true:

"For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty."
2 Peter 1:16.

He, and the other disciples, saw how God works first-hand! Their humble dependence caused a confidence that couldn't be denied! God's Word isn't a fairytale or "once upon a time"...it's forever settled in Heaven!!

Next time you doubt whether or not God is dependable, just search the Scriptures...especially these chapters! We don't lose anything by giving it all to Jesus...we gain true freedom because we can be settled and sure of Who He is & what He can (and will) do!

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...

The Heart of the Struggle

Focus Scripture: But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 Hello again! It's been about 4 months since I've stepped back into this space, and I have to say, I am taking very gentle steps. It's been on my heart so much to write again, but I am treading lightly. I may not post every day, unless God leads me there again...but for now, I am just moving forward in God's grace. I have some blog ideas stored up that I've been saving over time as I reflect upon His...
