In His Hands

Reading of the Day: 1 Samuel 26-28

1 Samuel 26:24: And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation.

Even after all they've been through, king Saul is still continuing to pursue after David! David proves to him time & time again that he has no desire to kill Saul, but Saul is still convinced that he has to kill David. Saul must have thought he was making David live in fear...but it was actually the opposite! 2 examples really show us this. In the first, David cuts off a piece of Saul's robe without him realizing it. He then shows it to Saul, giving clear proof that he had the ability to take Saul's life, but he did not do it. Then, David is able to take Saul's spear from him while he was sleeping, showing that he was unprepared and also unprotected because his men were also sleeping and not on guard! That's where the above Scripture comes in. David was basically saying that just like Saul's life was in David's hands that day, so is David's life in the hands of The Lord to deliver him! David clearly shows that following The Lord and putting our life in His hands preserves us! We are preserved, prepared & protected in any battle when our lives are in His hands! David ends up fleeing to the Philistines where Saul would never go, and that's where this chase finally comes to a close. Saul realizes his life was in his own hands for far too long. He would have been able to live without all the misery & despair if he placed his life in the hands of God! The enemy might think he has us, but as long as we place our lives in His hands, then we walk away stripping the enemy of his weapons, just like David did with Saul! Isaiah 54:17: "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD."
