Jesus is Enough

Based on Mark 6-7, Psalm 63

"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;" Psalms 63:1.

Have your options run out? Does it seem as though you can't find the answer to your problem? We sometimes don't realize it, but it's GOD that's going to fill that void! Our bodies & souls already know what we need...God created us to be made whole in Him. Nothing else will satisfy! We are thirsting and longing for Him! Jesus is most definitely enough!

"And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judas, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him."
Mark 6:2-3.

Many knew that there was a King of the Jews & Messiah that had been prophesied, but many did not understand that their idea of a king was nothing like Jesus, the TRUE King! Jesus came in a lowly fashion, to ordinary people with an ordinary life of carpentry. They were astonished, offended and dissatisfied that this Man, who knew so much and spoke in the synagogue, had such a plain background and reputation. But with the upcoming miracles in these chapters, we see how awesome Jesus is and that He IS enough!

Even Jesus' disciples sometimes had a hard time believing Jesus was enough in desperate situations. In fact, Scripture states that after Jesus fed the five thousand in Mark 6, the disciples' hearts were already hardened toward what had happened. So, Jesus walked on the sea to remind them of His power once again, and Jesus encouraged them not to be afraid...FOR HE IS ENOUGH:

"For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid. And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered. For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened." Mark 6:50‭-‬52.

We can be held captive by our own doubts & fears, or we can let our hearts be captured by Jesus! It's a daily choice we have to make! This life is not meant to be lived without Jesus in complete control! There are many other wonderful parables in just these 2 chapters of Mark, but the last I'll focus on is the Syrophenician woman & her daughter:

"For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter." Mark 7:25‭-‬26.

This woman was not of Jesus' family, not of His disciples, and not of His homeland. She was Greek, yet she fell down at His feet & had faith that Jesus could deliver her daughter! So many did not think Jesus was enough, but there were many people who did!

"But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter." Mark 7:27‭-‬29.

This woman would even be satisfied with a crumb from Jesus! She understood through the dogs' behavior that even something small was significant! She was lowly & humble as Jesus' character always was, and she knew that was enough.

Where are our expectations? Do we put other things above Jesus because we think He is not listening? Remember, HE IS STILL WORKING LIKE HE DID WHEN HE WALKED THE EARTH IN FLESH! The Holy Ghost is doing miraculous works, but it's up to us to have faith & say JESUS IS ENOUGH! Remember, have faith like a mustard seed...or a crumb!
