Just the Beginning...
Reading of the Day: Exodus 11-13
Exodus 12:2: This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
It probably didn't even feel real. It probably felt like a dream, loaded with anticipation and excitement. It probably felt like the moment where someone realizes they won their dream home or a free trip to an amazing vacation spot...I am talking about the Israelites' reaction to finally leaving Egypt! The moment where they said, "God really heard our groanings & sufferings all this time..." And to think...this was just the beginning! Just like the beautiful moment of childbirth! A birth is just the door we walk through to get to a beautiful life! That's why I love this Scripture...I think I passed over it at other times, but now that we're actually talking about the Passover, I see it in a new light! God made a point to say (in describing the Scripture above): "You're starting over. You're starting fresh. This is the first month of the rest of your life beyond Egypt!" God wanted them to know that the excitement and anticipation was not to only last through the exit gate of Egypt...it was supposed to be carried with them as they walked with The Lord the rest of their lives! It was certainly a dream come true...and we can have that too! The day we decide to open up to more of God is a wonderful fresh start, but it's only the beginning! After 430 long years in Egypt, the Israelites walked free...so that means it's never too late for a new beginning & fresh start for us as well! God has so much more for us, besides freeing us from the chains of our past. While that is a miracle in itself, it's the point where we don't just thank God & carry on, but we thank God & walk closer to Him than ever before! There is so much God wants to pour into each one of our lives...it's up to us to keep the mentality that, "It's just the beginning..."
