Lay it to Heart

Gina Pietrzak

Based on Jeremiah 12-14, 2 Timothy 1

"They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart." Jeremiah 12:11

Many people claim to fall victim to taking things too personally. While this can be true in some instances, I fear that many "lay things to rest" instead of "laying things to heart" as it states in the above Scripture. We sometimes don't take things personally enough. We sometimes don't care enough. I pray that God helps us to lay a little more to heart, me included in that group of course! Our lives move so fast, it's easy to let the desolate stay desolate...but then what do we become?

"O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?" Jeremiah 14:8

We don't want Jesus to just pass through! We want to have DAILY experiences with Him. We want to live in His love. We want others to experience the love of Jesus as well...but if we don't lay Jesus to heart, and we don't lay others to heart, we are not going to see much love going around! We can't fall victim to the bystander effect, expecting others to always be the first to reach out!

"Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? Art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things." Jeremiah 14:22

No one else can do what God can! We can do our part. We can lay people upon our hearts...but ultimately, it's a work of love only God can provide! That's why we need His Spirit living within us, being repentant, baptized & ready to follow the heartfelt pattern & passion of Jesus to reach a desolate world!

"Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us."

2 Timothy 1:13‭-‬14

Keep it up! Hold on tight! Lay Him to heart & find true rest in your souls!

Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...
