Leave nothing undone.

Reading of the Day: Joshua 9-11

Joshua 11:15: As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

Sometimes it's hard to remember that the work we put in today affects the outlook of our future. There are things we do in the present that are meant to be carried on by those after us. God created each life to serve a great purpose! We might think each little task is insignificant. That what we are doing doesn't really matter or make a difference-but it DOES! That's why, as Joshua did, we must leave nothing undone! We must finish out the work God has called us to! We must not give up! Moses made a huge impact on the people of Israel. He was a great example of how to walk with God. It was now time for Joshua to carry on & walk closely with The Lord & live up to that calling! And Joshua surely was strong and of a good courage like God told him to be! As the Scripture says, "...he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses." And that doesn't mean we are called to do everything. The job isn't so big that we can't attain it or achieve it. The point is, we really need to see what it is God is desiring of us each day, and do those tasks without giving up! We could easily be overwhelmed by all we COULD be doing, but instead we need to ask ourselves what the priority is in that moment. We can look at "leave nothing undone" as a calling to address every single thing on our to-do list right now or else...or, we could look at "leave nothing undone" as "do the important things well." Maybe I don't have time for my house to be spotless, but that's because I prioritize instilling a Spiritual education into our family, which most definitely takes time & patience! I'm sure we all have similar goals & examples, and of course we still want things to be spotless, but we can work toward that in a way that makes practical sense for our season! We can strive for the balance, not the extreme! Think about Mary & Martha. They spent time doing things, but only one spent time with the Priority-Jesus! Martha was cleaning & being hospitable toward her guests, but her heart was far from Jesus. Mary knew to drop everything & spend time with Him while she was in His presence! So next time you hear, "leave nothing undone," don't think first about a spotless home...think first about a spotless soul! Because in spending time in His presence & sharing God's goodness with those around us, He will help us find the time to balance out the rest-even if it's never "perfect." God made the sun stand still for Joshua, so He can help us find the time & grace to do all He has called us to do in Jesus' Name! The first thing we should never leave undone is our relationship with GOD!
