Let it snow!

...And it's here. The long Chicago winter has already begun! We got hit with an "arctic blast" just in time for Monday! Commuters were not too pleased, but I think there is beauty in it all (and not just because I am a thankful stay-at-home Mom!). I absolutely love this time of year, even when I have to go out and endure it (although those below-zero temps make it quite challenging for even a winter lover to be appreciative of "the most wonderful time of the year!"). Just look at any picture of snow, and it looks breathtaking. Yes, in person, in the mess, the howling winds, bitter chills and slush may send a different message-but just take a snapshot and it might just change your perspective. Just like the Scripture I love to share: "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10, we can be still and watch the season and its beauty just...happen.

"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified." Isaiah 61:3. Plant yourself in praise of our Creator! Trade in your "Let it stop!" for "Let it snow!" Just like the Israelites, we must be thankful for what God is revealing to us in the wilderness trek just as much as the mountaintop. Trade in the storm for the still photo of winter wonderland weather!

Did I just change your situation? Nope. But I sure hope I changed your mind! Scripture shows us how to turn our negative situations into positive ones.
