Let there be LIGHT!

Based on Genesis 1-3, Matthew 1

"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day." Genesis 1:3‭-‬5.

Thinking about the dawn of creation, we can only picture a "dawn" with great light. It would have been amazing to see this all unfold...and what did the nothingness look like? It's all so much in itself to try to fathom...but so much happened when God said, "Let there be light"!

Looking ahead into the New Testament, we know that Jesus is called "the Light of the world." (John 9:5). Jesus is God, and through every miraculous Scripture, we can truly see that. So when God said, "Let there be light" in His creation, it's almost a foreshadow to the Light that He will be for us, His created people! LET THERE BE JESUS!

"And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations." Matthew 1:16‭-‬17.

I know I've mentioned this in previous posts, but I LOVE history & seeing how different events are connected! Jesus, our Light of the world, was woven intricately into time, but existed before time & will be forevermore, because He is GOD! He came precisely at the right time. As in creation, He was there in darkness. He came to bring light to the darkness. He came to bring people out of darkness! People have been in sin & darkness since Adam & Eve, but Jesus has given us a way to escape all of it! Now we have light! LET THERE BE LIGHT!

"And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." Genesis 3:14‭-‬15.

From the beginning of time, there was a promise of a child who would bring light to a sinful, dark world. One who would grow as the last Adam, the last sacrifice...the One who would make a way for us to be born again, out of the grip of sin & death:

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38.

If we want hope, light & life, WE NEED JESUS. We need this new birth experience for now & for our eternity. Let God light up your world, and let all His goodness come into focus in 2021!
