Moses Mentality

Based on Deuteronomy 33-34, Proverbs 5

"And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither."
Deuteronomy 34:4.

Although Moses was not able to go into the promised land, his eyes beheld it. Before this moment, in previous chapters, he spoke faith to Joshua & the rest of the people that soon they'd get there. Moses was content even just looking at it...how humble he was! But how exciting it must have been to be on the brink of obtaining it! Sometimes, we are on the outside looking in (or the inside looking out!). Sometimes, the grass looks greener from where we are standing. But let's have a Moses mentality! Let's be content & confident, knowing that there is a future beyond this!

"Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." Philippians 4:11.

This above Scripture gives us hope for the now. In the uncertainty. Moses was content with the extent to which God brought him, and he was content that life would go on, even without him. We need to be content now and later. Moses found a final place of rest with God. He died, but he died a man who was special to God & dear to His heart.

"And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Beth–peor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day. And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated." Deuteronomy 34:6‭-‬7.

God Himself buried Moses! Just like God took care of Moses all the days of his life, He also did so at his death. Moses was still healthy. Moses could probably have gone on naturally & physically...but he completed that which he was called to do, and he was content. It does not say that Moses resisted death, or that he begged & pleaded for more days. It was clear that his purpose was God's perfect will in his life!

"And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face," Deuteronomy 34:10.

We need to strive to be close to The Lord! I'm sure that could be the only reason why Moses stayed so content! Moses loved God so much, and no matter how many times the people spoke against him, he was always able to bring them an encouraging Word from God. Although Moses did have his times of frustration, he never doubted that ultimately, his life, as well as the life of the people, were in God's hands, for God's glory!

"The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them." Deuteronomy 33:27.

We pray diligently for God to thrust this disease out of our nation & our world-but even in this time, when we have not yet reached the green grass of the promise land, we need to remember that the eternal God is our refuge, and we need to keep safe under His everlasting arms! In Him, we are safe, no matter the season!

"Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the Lord, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places." Deuteronomy 33:29.

We can still be happy now! God never told Moses to be sad & discouraged at the time of his death-remember, even in death, God took care of him. It was not a time to mourn! Remember, Moses' purpose was God's perfect will-and since the promised land would be reached with Joshua leading the way, Moses could be content! The journey still continued!

...and it continues for us too! We won't always be in this place, but with a Moses mentality, we can be content here. The grass is green on the other side, but it doesn't have to be greener! We can water the seeds of our relationship with God right now. In doing so, we will water seeds of contentment...and a little green might just come through!
