Nothing else will do...

Gina Pietrzak

Based on Psalms 49-50, Romans 1

"They that trust in their wealth, And boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him: (For the redemption of their soul is precious, And it ceaseth for ever:) That he should still live for ever, And not see corruption." Psalm 49:6‭-‬9

What fills our lives? What do we look to for soothing, easing & comfort? If it's not our God, then we don't have real satisfaction! Real satisfaction extends beyond this world & time itself. Money does not fix everything...in fact, it does not fix anything! It can reach to many areas and many needs, but it cannot fix our hearts! Nothing else will do! We need Jesus!

"Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, When the glory of his house is increased; For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: His glory shall not descend after him." Psalm 49:16‭-‬17

Being rich isn't always the blessing we should seek after. Although it seems like the answered prayer of a lifetime, it might be the one thing that keeps us farthest from God! If we persist after money, God might just let us have it to see that it doesn't bring true happiness. That doesn't mean God does not bless people financially, because He does, but where are our hearts at? Are we ready to receive the blessing & give back to the Kingdom with it? To invest it wisely?

"Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, Is like the beasts that perish." Psalm 49:20

Again, nothing else but JESUS will do! If we have a great position, but abuse its power and authority & don't realize what we should be doing with that status, we may as well be like the beasts that perish! Seek meaning and purpose from God!

"For every beast of the forest is mine, And the cattle upon a thousand hills."

Psalm 50:10

...And even if we became like one of those beasts, we STILL belong to God anyway! He owns it all! He is Creator and Provider! It all comes from God, so we need Him above all else!

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."

Romans 1:16

How can we be ashamed of the One true God!? How can we fear sacrifice when He is our Provider? Nothing else will do! No one else will do!

"who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen." Romans 1:25

Do we serve the creature more than the Creator? Do we almost worship money & our "status"? Remember, things are gifts...but we need to honor the Giver! We need to find our joy & satisfaction in Him!

Surviving the Peace Plummet

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. Peacefulness is the toughest muscle there is, and exercising it only makes it stronger. However, it proves to be the most difficult to keep toned & honed consistently in our lives. Peacefulness is like that one workout that you know is going to take the most time...

A Moment of Silence.

As was powerfully preached this past Wednesday, "Let there be light" were the first words spoken by God in Genesis 1:3... And He wasn't necessarily speaking about a physical manifestation... But a Spiritual one. Knowing that creation Would mean redemption. It would mean... Heaven needs to touch earth... Light would need to pierce the veil of darkness... The process of creating was ongoing... All the way to the point of creating in us clean hearts (Psalm 51:10) by being born again of water &...

The Heart of the Struggle

Focus Scripture: But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 Hello again! It's been about 4 months since I've stepped back into this space, and I have to say, I am taking very gentle steps. It's been on my heart so much to write again, but I am treading lightly. I may not post every day, unless God leads me there again...but for now, I am just moving forward in God's grace. I have some blog ideas stored up that I've been saving over time as I reflect upon His...
