Numbering & Noticing

Reading of the Day: Numbers 1-3

Numbers 1:46: Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

It was very important for God to speak to Moses to count the children of Israel. All the males of 20 years old & up were officially counted, because each of them represented their families. So the number in the above Scripture could really be a lot bigger! Either way you look at it, each person matters to God! And God doesn't only take account of the amount of people, but He notices them. He watches over them. The Israelites were more to God than just a sum of people, or a number. Each one was one of a kind! We were all created after His kind, after His image, but each of us is somehow also unique! So the next time we all gather at church together, remember, God is not only numbering, He is noticing. He looks at the total, and He looks at the one. I heard a song on the way to church today called "I See Grace" by Micah Tyler that really complements this thought: "When I was a prodigal, You saw son. When I left the 99, You saw one." Our God knows how to see us for who we truly are. He does not compare, althought He somehow can focus equally on the big picture as the life of one person! He may have found it important for Moses to count the people to count his blessings! He could look at the large group God saved out of Israel, while also looking into the eyes of each individual who has so much potential to do great things for The Lord! He could see that the large sum total really only starts with one...and it all leads back to our one God! God is not only numbering you as part of a crowd, He is noticing you & all you are going through! You mean so much to Him. You are one of a kind, and HE LOVES YOU!
